| Description Dive! Advanced is the enhanced version of the popular arcade game Dive!. In this exciting and challenging game you will be placed at the helm of a deep-sea submersible in the middle of troubled waters. You are responsible for retrieving a number of precious artifacts off the ocean floor in waters ruthlessly patrolled by enemy nuclear submarines and riddled with depth charges, mines, and torpedoes. It will take razor-sharp skill and split-second thinking to dodge and weave through these dangers and complete your mission. In Dive! Advanced it is Sink or Swim. Do you have what it takes?
| The Game The object of Dive! Advanced is simple. Each level you are required to bring a certain number of artifacts, one at a time, from the ocean floor to the surface. Once you float over an artifact it will be attached to the submersible, so you can bring it back up with you. You will notice that three gold coins show up once you have an artifact attached, these will increase your score if you hit them on your way back up. Since you will receive a free life after every 2000 points, getting these bonus coins is a something to try for if possible. While you are underwater your air meter, which is located on the bottom-left of the screen, will start to drop. When it drops to a critical point, the air meter will begin flashing, prompting you to head for the surface. If you run out of air before reaching the surface, your submersible will be destroyed. During certain levels upgrade crates will drop into the ocean. These crates, which are signified with a question mark on the front, will upgrade your submersible if you can manage to hit them before they reach the ocean floor and explode. If you successfully hit an upgrade crate you will receive one of four upgrades, which include a Free Life, Extra Air, Extra Speed, and even a Torpedo so that you can blow the obstacles out of your way. After the completion of every 5th level a four letter Level Code will be displayed. This code can be used in the Continue Game menu screen to continue the game from that corresponding level. And last but not least, running into a nuclear submarine, a mine, a depth charge, or a torpedo will obviously result in instant death. | Controls You are required to use the keyboard to control the submersible in Dive! Advanced. The controls are as follows: | The Enemy ::Submarines There are two types of submarines, ones that fire torpedoes horizontally and ones that fire them vertically towards the sky. ::Mines There are three types of mines: Static Mines, Proximity Mines, and Magnetic Mines. Static Mines stay put throughout the level and if ran into will blow up, destroying your submersible. Proximity Mines will begin ticking down if you get within a certain range of them. Upon reaching 0 they will explode and kill you if you are anywhere nearby. Rule of Thumb is not to be near a Proximity Mine that is counting down. Magnetic Mines have no intention of sitting still throughout each level. These guys will begin following you if you happen to come nearby. ::Depth Charges There are three types of depth charges that fall from the sky: Static Charges, Proximity Charges, and Magnetic Charges. Static Charges will simply sink to the bottom and explode on contact with either your submersible or the ocean floor. Proximity Charges sink to the bottom just like Static Charges, but will sit on the ocean floor until you come into range, which will trigger a countdown and an eventual explosion that will destroy your submersible if your are too close. Magnetic Charges sink to the bottom as expected, but will move towards you on the way down if you are close by. (c) 2001 Lucid Games. All Rights Reserved.
